Marie M. Zerkel
MARIE M. ZERKEL, 84, died at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 7, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Ottoville to Martin and Lucy Rekart Bendele, who preceded her in death. On
Oct. 16, 1946, she married Walter N. Zerkel, who died Oct. 24, 1965.
Mrs. Zerkel retired from Ottoville schools, where she had been a cook, and retired from I&K Distributors.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She
enjoyed all types of music and playing bingo. She also was an avid birdwatcher and the world's best mother
and grandmother.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Zerkel of Delphos, Tim (Jan) Zerkel of Fort Jennings and Jim (Pam)
Zerkel of Columbus Grove; a daughter, Kathleen (Kenny) Bott of Columbus Grove; a brother, Richard (Alice)
Bendele of Ottoville; two sisters, Catherine Gudakunst and Marty Gerdeman, both of Ottoville; nine
grandchildren, Nicole (Greg) McCann, Brent Zerkel, Jeff Howard, Amy Miller, Andrea Zerkel, Jessica Zerkel,
Joni Zerkel, Josh Bott and Jesse Bott; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan McCann, Lauryn McCann, Kayla
Braun and Jacob Miller.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry Bendele, Carl Bendele and twin infant brothers John
and Paul Bendele; and a sister, Salome Bendele.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings. The
Rev. Tony Borgia will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Eugene M. Beining
Eugene M. "Gene" Beining, 68, of Ottoville, died 1 a.m. Thursday at his residence. He was born April 12,
1934 in Ottoville, to Joseph and Veronica A. (Koetter) Beining. On April 7, 1956, he married Mary Ann Etgen,
who survives in Ottoville.
Other survivors include four daughters, Nancy Beining, Deb (Ron) Cross and Lisa (Joe) Modica of
Ottoville, and Mary Jo (Mark) Knott of Ottawa; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Greg) King; three brothers, Art, Walt and Joe Beining; and three sisters,
Lauretta Miller, Hilda Ricker and Genevieve Becker. Mr. Beining retired after 43 years at Fruehauf Corp. in
Delphos, as an electrician.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a former member of the
Ottoville Park Board, the Ottoville Village Council, the church's Parish Council and the Ottoville Lions Club.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, the Rev.
Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville. Friends may call 2-9 p.m. Sunday
at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Ottoville, where a parish wake will be at 3 p.m.

Orville W. Hoehn age 84, of Dearborn, MI and Mesa, AZ. Died Tuesday February 18, 2003 in Mesa, AZ.

Alvera M. Wieging
ALVERA M. "VERA" WIEGING, 98, died at 8:45 a.m. March 2, 2003, at Van Crest Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 18,1904, in :Ottoville to William and Josephine Sanders Bigelow, who preceded her in,
death. In. 1922, she married Edward Wieging, who died Aug. 25, 1959.
Mrs. Wieging retired as a beautician after 66 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort
Jennings, where she was a member of its Altar Rosary' Society. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of
Columbia, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740 Auxiliary, Ottoville, and American Legion Post 715 Auxiliary,
Fort Jennings, where she help start the Daughters of the Auxiliary.
She was a 1927 graduate of Inez. Kiefer Beauty College, in Fort Wayne, Ind. She enjoyed cooking: for the
priest and the sisters. She liked to sew, crochet and needle point. She loved to cook and was especially known
for her pies
Survivors include a daughter in-law, Pat Wieging of Fort Jennings; a sister, Frances Kiefer of Swanton;
eight grandchildren, Gary (Margie) Wieging of Fort Jennings, Edward (Doreen) Wieging and Marcia (Dennis)
Kahle, both of Elida, Jack (Mary) Wiegin of Granger, Ind., Randy Wieging and Debbie (Bob) Kennedy, both of
Fort Wayne, Ind., Cindy Wieging of Defiance and Linda (Keith) Gasser of Sarasota, Fla.; 23
greatgrandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Herbert J. and Thomas E . Wieging; four brothers; Walker; Hillary,
Bill and Ralph Bigelow; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Haehn Wieging; four sisters, Margaret Bigelow, Esther
Metzger, Irene Spencer and Dorothy Horstman; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Wieging; and special friend Lynn

Marcella Mary Schumaker
MARCELLA MARY SHUMAKER, 93, died at 11:55 p.m. March 6, 2003, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home,
Glandorf.
She was born March 2, 1910 in Ottoville to Frank C. and Anna Shulatman Becker, who preceded her in
death. On April 16, 1929, she married Richard A. Shumaker, who died July 10, 1974.
Mrs. Shumaker had been a homemaker and secretary for Shumaker Plumbing. She was a member of St.
John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 40
and the Delphos Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Eugene (Dorothy) Shumaker of Delphos; two daughters, Ann (Daniel) Steman and
Norma (Leo) Geise of Fort Jennings; abrother, Melvin (Jean) Becker of Ottoville; a sister, Bernadine (Rudy)
Utrup of Columbus Grove; a daughter-in-law, Eloise Shumaker of Delphos; and 21 grandchildren and 35 great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Shumaker; and two grandsons, Todd Geise and Larry
Shumaker.

Raymond A. Wannemacher
RAYMOND A. WANNEMACHER, 81, died March 17, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Putnam County to Walter and Adeline Schwertner Wannemacher, who
preceded him in death. On Nov. 22, 1956, he married Mildred R. Stefker, who died Feb. 16, 1993.
Mr. Wannemacher had been owner/operator of Ray Wannemacher Construction for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. He was a
member of the Lions Club. He had served on the Ottoville Village Council, where he had also served as
president.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph R. Wannemacher and William "Bill" (Suzanne) Wannemacher, both of
Ottoville; a dauughter, Judy M. Wantmacher of Ottoville; a sister, Mildred (Arnold) Luersman of Delphos; and
three grandchildren, Tara Wannemacher, Adria Wannemacher and Eric Wannemacher, all of Ottoville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ludwin and Richard Wannemacher.

Rudolph P. Deitering
RUDOLPH P. DEITERING, 89, died at 11:25 a.m. March 30, 2003, at Paradise Oaks Healthcare Center,
Cloverdale.
He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Ottoville to Henry and Catherine Beining Deitering, who preceded him in
death. On Sept. 25, 1935, he married Alberta C. Kehres, who died Jan. 10, 2001.
Mr. Deitering was proud to be a lifelong farmer. He was a former Monterey Township Trustee. He was a
former board member of the Ottoville Mutual Telephone Co. He was a member of Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors include a son, James (Grace) Deitering of Ottoville; two daughters, Doris (Fred) Dunn of
Romance, Ark., and Shelva Jean Ritzel of Xenia; and six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two
stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott J. Deitering; five brothers, John, Albert, Leo, Joe and
Oliver Deitering; and three sisters, Clara Koester, Florence Miller and Emma Deitering.

EMMA K. HEITMEYER, 86, died at 3:55 a.m. May 14, 2003, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Fort Jennings to John and Mary Bendele Wieging, who preceded her in
death. In 1942, in North Carolina, she married Arnold J. Heitmeyer, who died July 15, 1983.
Mrs. Heitmeyer was a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,
Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Stephanie) Heitmeyer of Ottoville and Dennis (Margie) Heitmeyer of
Kalida; three daughters, June (Melvin) Gable of Delphos and Connie (David) Ricker and Shirley (Doug)
Beining, both of Ottoville; a sister, Martha Pitt of Lima; and 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert, Rudy, Cleo and Edmund Wieging; and a sister, Marie
Meyer.

Joseph Perrin
JOSEPH PERRIN, 77, died at 1:05 am. May 21,2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born May 30, 1925, in Putnam County to William and Helena Weber Perrin, who preceded him in
death. On July 15, 1950, he married Ethel Kennedy, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Perrin retired from Westinghouse Corp. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3740, Ottoville, and its Military Order of Cooties, American
Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471. He loved to play cards, especially
euchre, at the VFW and at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a Navy veteran serving on the aircraft carrier
USS Antietam.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Sue) Perrin of Lima and Mike Perrin of Harrod; a daughter, Becky Perrin of
Delphos; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Perrin; and a sister, Mary Fleming.

Vincent C. Klima
VINCENT C. KLIMA, 77, died at 10:45 a.m. June 2, 2003, at VanCrest of Delphos.
He was born Sept. 26,1925, in Ottoville, to Wenzel and Emma Martin Klima, who preceded him in death. On
Aug. 20, 1946, he married Ladonna A. Clement, who survives.
Mr. Klima retired from farming in 1974 and from quality control at Fruehauf in 1984. He was a member of
St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. He was a life member of American Legion Post 268,
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, all in Delphos, the Disabled
American Veterans, the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Ohio Farmers Union. He was a member of
Knights of Columbus Council 1362, Delphos. He was an Army veteran of World War 11, where he was
captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed boating, camping and traveling. He also
liked to play cards and put puzzles together.
Survivors also include a son, Charles W (Mariana) Klima of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Diane Van Horn of
Phoenix; a brother, Leonard (Ruth) Klima of Ottoville; a sister, Katie Simmons of Lima; and 10 grandchildren,
Shelly Carmean, Sandy Klaus, Summer Richey, Rick Van Horn, Greg Van Horn, Bill Van Horn, Katie Dickens,
Kourteney Klima, Kacee Klima and Kingsley Klima; and 14 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Anthony Klima; two sisters, Bertha Spieles and
Sally Klausing; three brothers-inlaw, Ray Spieles, Louis Klausing and Gene Simmons; and two sisters-in-law,
Margaret Klima and Fredona Klima.

Thomas J. Schimmoeller
Thomas J. Schimmoeller, 73, of Ottawa, died 11:59 am Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at St. Rita’s Medical
Center, Lima.
Mr. Schimmoeller was born July 27, 1929 in Ft. Jennings to Edward and Veronica (Kaverman)
Schimmoeller. On April 28, 1956, he married Alma Honigfort and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 5 sons: Alan (Dawn) Schimmoeller, Kevin Schimmoeller and Dale Schimmoeller all of
Ottawa; Edward Schimmoeller of Columbus Grove and Peter (Donna) Schimmoeller of Richfield. 5 Daughters:
Joan (Gary) Wilson of Continental, Irene (Stanley) Johns of Findlay, Paula Schimmoeller and Amy (James)
Williams of Hilliard and Lisa (Gary) Vorst of Kalida; 21 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild; 2 Brothers: Philip
Schimmoeller of Ottoville and Donald (Coletta) Schimmoeller of Ft. Jennings.
He was predeceased by two Brothers: Robert and Alfred “Jack” Schimmoeller and a Sister: Ruth Perrin.
Mr. Schimmoeller retired after 42 years in maintenance with Philips Display Components of Ottawa. He was
a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he was a Mass Server, Eucharistic Minister, Usher and
member of the Cemetery Board; he was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, life member of American
Legion Post 63 where he had been Chaplin and P.R. person; life member of Amvets; social member of Ottawa
VFW; member of IBEW; Member of Boy Scout Troop 224 as well as its Treasurer, Committeeman and Former
Scout Master and Pack Leader.
A funeral mass will begin at 10:00 am Friday, June 13, 2003 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr.
Tom Hemm officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion
and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 pm Thursday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa where scripture will be held
at 3 pm and VFW service at 7 pm.

Harold Kramer
HAROLD "PUD" KRAMER, 76, died at 2:48 p.m. June 18,2003, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center,
Ottawa.
He was born Nov. 5,1926, in Ottoville, to Clarence and Henrietta Gruelich Kramer, who preceded him in
death. He had been married to Jeanne Kemper Custer, who died Nov. 6, 1985. On Jan. 11, 1974, he married
Margaret "Maggie" Evans, who survives in Kalida.
Mr. Kramer retired from Unverferth Manufacturing, Kalida, after 35 years, and had retired from farming. He
was currently working mornings at McDonald's in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church,
Kalida. He was a member of American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie
2234, Ottawa. He was a life member of Kalida Fish and Game Club. He was an Army veteran of World War 11.
Survivors include four sons, Paul (Cathy) Kramer of Rimer, Mike Kramer of Lakeview, Greg Wehri of
Findlay and Doug Wehri of Kalida; three daughters, Chris (David) Heitmeyer of Lexington Park, Md., Nancy
Wehri of Columbus Grove and Debbie Kramer of Kalida; two sisters, Dorothy Kramer of Kalida and Betty
Reynolds of Spencerville; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Valeria Siefker
VALERIA SIEFKER, 93, died at 3:35 p.m. June 22, 2003, at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Glandorf.
She was born May 25,1910, in Ottoville to Anthony and Bernadine Perrin Clementz, who preceded her in
death. On Sept. 30, 1931, she married Joseph A. Siefker, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Siefker was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a life member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142, Ottawa, Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 84, Landeck, and Fraternal
Order of Eagle Aerie 471 Auxiliary, Delphos. She loved canning, playing cards and making noodles, bread,
afghans, rugs and quilts. She loved to visit with people and enjoyed her music.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Shirley) Siefker of Fort Jennings, Gerald “Jerry" Siefker of Delphos
and Joseph (Kathleen) Siefker of Elida; two daughters, Alma (Harold) Carpenter of Ottawa and Ann Daughtery
of Del Rio, Texas; a brother, Frank (Helen) Clementz of Ottoville; 18 grandchildren, Steven, Paul, Mark, John,
Timothy, Michael, Jerry Jr., Bill and Scott Siefker, Lisa Thompson, Rick, Norm, Dale and Larry Carpenter,
JoAnna Klause, Lorie Ditto, Andrea Early and Adam Daughtery; and 31 great-grandchildren and six great-
great-grandchildren.

Anna L. Odenweller
Anna L. Odenweller, 84, of Ottoville, died at 2:55 a.m. Thursday at her residence. She was born Jan. 19,
1919, in Ottoville, to William M. and Eleanor (Lochtefeld) Otte. On Nov. 30, 1939, she married Eugene A.
Odenweller, who survives in Ottoville.
Other survivors include four children, Lenore A. Knepper of Leipsic, Howard (Pam) Odenweller and Mark
G. (Deanna) Odenweller of Ottoville and Jennifer M. (Tom) Rekart of Delphos; a sister, Ruth Eickholt of
Delphos; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul
Odenweller; son-in-law, Kenneth Knepper; and two sisters, Ethel Fischer and Mildred King. Mrs. Odenweller
was a homemaker.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society and

Christopher Nienberg
CHRISTOPHER NIENBERG, 41, died at 5:55 a.m. July 17, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 12, 1962, in Lima to Raymond and Bernadine Inkrott Nienberg, who survive in Glandorf.
He married Maria Hilvers, who survives in Ottoville.
Mr. Nienberg worked in the maintenance department at Tower Automotive, Bluffton, for 13 years. He was a
member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 3740 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234, both in Ottoville, and United Auto Workers Local 1327.
He was also a member of the Ottoville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors also include a daughter, Marissa Nienberg at home; seven brothers, Kyle (Diane) Nienberg of
Columbus Grove, Larry (Jeanne) Nienberg and Steve (Linda) Nienberg, both of Ottawa, Randy (Joan)
Nienberg of Kalida, Jeff (Diane) Nienberg of McComb, Charles (Marjie) Nienberg of Glandorf and Bill (Carrie)
Nienberg of Lexington, S.C.; and a sister, Victoria (Dan) Furr of Aiken, S.C.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Nienberg.

She was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Ottoville to Stephen and Adeline Miehls Looser, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swint was a homemaker. She was retired from Lincolnway Home, Middle Point. She was a member of
Dupont Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Aggie) Swint of Ottoville and Jeff (Joann) Swint of Fort Jennings; three
daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Hoffman of Ottawa, Sheila (Jim) Eley of Lima and Vicki (Ken) Siefker of Delphos; a
brother, John Looser of Middle Point; three sisters, Virginia Hoffman of Columbus Grove, JoAnne Nichols of
Fort Jennings and Margie Dunlap of Ottoville; 13 grandchildren, Cindy Hiett, Steve Hoffman, John Hoffman,
Kevin Swint, Barb Bruns, Becky Lause, Jim Eley, Scott Eley, Nikki Kingzett, Andy Siefker, Tina Wagoner, Jason
Swint, Erica Swint; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Looser; three brothers-in-law, Virgil Hoffman, Milton

Velma C. Ricker
Velma C. Ricker, 86, of Ottoville, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born July
29, 1917 in Putnam County to John Hohlbein and Rosina (Rahrig) Hohlbein. On June 7, 1938, she married
John H. Ricker, who died Feb. 29, 1997.
Survivors include a son, John A. Ricker of Ottoville; a daughter, Arlene (Robert) Kortokrax of Ottoville; 11
grandchildren; and 29 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jane Ricker.
Ricker retired as a cook from Delphos Memorial Nursing Home. She had also been a cook for the Paradise
Oaks Nursing Center, Cloverdale, Jim's Restaurant in Delphos and Dew Drop Inn in Ottoville.
Prior to being married, she was a nurse practitioner for Dr. Bollander. She was a member of the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its altar rosary society. She taught religion education in the
elementary school for more than 25 years and sang in the choir for more than 30 years. She also was a
member of the Miraculous Medal Association.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville,
the Rev. Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville. Friends may call 2-9 p.m.

JAMES: L. ODENWELLER; 87, died at 8:06 am. Aug. 15,2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born June 8,1916, in Ottoville. to Alex and Bertha Flanagan Odenweller, who preceded him in
death. On Aug. 20, 1939, he married Constance Burghard, who died Sept. 21, 1998.
Mr. Odenweller was retired from Odenweller Milling Company after 44 years. He was a member of St. Peter
and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and the Lions Club of Ottoville.
Survivors include four sons, Gary (Florence) Odenweller of Naperville, lll., John (Noreen) Odenweller of
Perrysburg, and David (Elaine) Odenweller and Steven (Barb) Odenweller, both of Ottawa; two daughters,
Diane (Joseph) Mueller of Delphos, and Nancy (Ronald) Gerdeman of Allentown, Penn.; a brother, Eugene
Odenweller of Ottoville; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Odenweller; three sisters, Kathleen Koehl, Irene Ricker and
Alice Fortman; and a grandson and a great-grandson.

Edward E. Garlock
EDWARD E. GARLOCK, 74, died at 11:45 am. Aug. 18, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Detroit to Lester and Pat Ruthkowski Garlock, who preceded him in death.
On May 28, 1949, he married Jean Weaver, who survives.
Mr. Garlock retired as a traffic manager from General Motors. He was a member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He was a life member of Saginaw Valley Club, of which he served as
president in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, mowing the grass and taking his breaks.
Survivors also include two sons, Michael Garlock of Florida and Edward T. (Tanya) Garlock of Ohio; five
daughters, Diane (Ken) Bendele of Ottoville, Judy (Hugh) Hughes of Michigan, Jean (Marty) Rhodes of North
Carolina, Tracey Garlock of Cloverdale and Janet (Dan) Kwaiser of Michigan; and 18 grandchildren and seven

Walter A. Miller
THE REV. MR. WALTER A. MILLER, 54, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.
He was born June 15, 1949, in Van Wert to George and Gertrude Fischer Miller, who preceded him in
death. On Sept. 8, 1973, in Delphos, he married Jill Ann Weeden, who survives.
Mr. Miller worked at Miller Brothers Clay Works of Ottoville, his family's business, for 26 years. He and his
wife had opened and operated the Video Connection, Van Wert, for eight years. On May 13, 1989, he was
ordained a deacon in the Toledo Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. He was a life member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Holy Name Society. In 1988, he began volunteering at St. Rita's
Medical Center, where in 1991, he went on staff as a chaplain. He was currently serving as the director of
Pastoral and Patient Relations at St Rita's. He was a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains
and American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings. He was an Army veteran, having been drafted to serve in the
Vietnam War as a corporal.
Survivors include three daughters, Jessica Miller of Cleveland and Amanda Miller and Elizabeth Miller, both
at home; a brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) Miller of Ottoville; four sisters, Elizabeth Knott of Columbus Grove, June
(Don) Korte of Delphos, Ruth Schuller of Ottawa and Vivian (Bob) Schimmoeller of Oak Harbor; and a
granddaughter, Rylee Byrne at home.

Jerome L. “Jim” Turnwald, 68, of Ottoville, died at 9:04 p.m. Friday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Ottoville, to Ralph and Margaret (Rayman) Turnwald.
On Sept. 7, 1957, he married Phyllis Imber, who survives.
Other survivors include seven children, Karen Little, Jerome R. (Ann) Turnwald, Michael Turnwald,
Kathleen (Larry) Warniment, Linda (Terry) Myers, Timothy (Julie) Turnwald and Diane (Clint) Gable; a brother,
Gary (Cathy) Turnwald of Ottoville; a sister, Delores (John) Nussbaum of Ottoville; 16 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Orville Turnwald.
Mr. Turnwald was a retired farmer and was a Monterey Township Trustee for 25 1/2 years. After his
retirement, he delivered for Drapery Stitch. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,
Ottoville, and its choir. He was also a member of the Ottoville Lions Club, Putnam County Trustees Association
and the Ottoville Fire Board.
Mass of Christian burial was today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Tony Borgia
officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville.

She was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Cloverdale, to Leo and Clara (Schulte) Omlor.
On July 6, 1949, she married Eugene J. Fischbach, who survives.

Mrs. Fischbach worked at the Lima Ordnance Depot. From 1953 to 1987, she operated Ottawa Fabric &

Delphos Senior Citizens Center and the Ottawa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Auxiliary and Chamber of
Commerce.

David E. Dundas, 73, of Ottoville, died at 8:02 p.m. Sunday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1930 in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Edwin and Beatrice (Danton) Dundas.
He married Beatrice Utrup, who survives in Ottoville.
Other survivors include a son, Keith (Angie) Dundas of Van Wert; two daughters, Lisa (Rich) Litchfield and
Tonya (Dan) Porter of Indiana; a sister, Francis Huffer of Belton, Texas; three grandchildren and three
stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Collins and Barbara Estep; and several nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Dundas retired from the village of Ottoville as a maintenance man. He was a member of Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 3740 in Ottoville and American Legion Post 715 in Fort Jennings and was a World War II
Cootie’s Club member. He was a Korean War veteran. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

On Nov. 6, 1946, she married Harold J. Stechschulte, who survives in Kalida.

Mrs. Stechschulte sold wedding invitations and religious articles for John A. Reiger Co. of Toledo. She was
a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Kalida, and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Altar Rosary Society
and served as a Eucharist minister and sacristan. She was also a member of the Fort Jennings American
Legion Post and a 22-year member of the Putnam County Cancer Board.

Patricia A. Carter Horstman, 81, of Ottoville, died at 8:32 a.m. Monday at Ohio State University Medical
Center, Columbus.
She was born Oct. 29, 1922 in Ohio City, to Theodore Franklin and Ruby Marcille (Pennell) Adams.
On June 21, 1942, she married Carl Eugene “Gene” Carter, who died March 1, 1989. She then married
Elmer Horstman on June 20, 1992. He survives in Ottoville.
Other survivors include a son, Ted A. (Marge) Carter of Van Wert; four daughters, Carla J. (Jerry) Doner,
Nancy R. (Charles) Darras and Rhonda L. (Larry) Gibson of Van Wert and Brenda L. (Eric) Agler of Hamilton;
three stepsons, Dan (Lynn) Horstman, Ron (Jan) Horstman and Nick (Jane) Horstman of Ottoville; six

Mrs. Horstman retired from Aeroquip Corp. (Eaton) in Van Wert after 29 years of service. She was a
member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and the Aeroquip Women’s Retirement Club. She was
a 1940 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a former member of the Van Wert Genealogical Society.

Ralph Leo Perrin, 76died at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Ottoville a son of Charles and Anna (Plescher) Perrin.
On February 24, 1978, he married Marie Hemmert. She survives in Wapakoneta.

and Debby (Rick) Conaway of Lima; two step-sons, Doug (Toni) Hemmert of Wapakoneta, and Dan (Vicki)

Wapakoneta; three sisters, Mary Grothouse of Lima, Josephine Shaw of Lima, and Catherine Miller of

Mr. Perrin was a member of the Eagles Aerie 370 and the American Legion Post 96. He was an Army
veteran during World War II. He retired from Superior Coach, Lima, as an assembler.

Margaret Metzger of Dayton; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Otte; a daughter, Janice (Otte) Myers; three brothers, Leo,
Elmer and Henry Otte; and two sisters, Marcelle Boerger and Euletta Weber.
Mr. Otte retired as storeroom attendant at Lima-Baldwin-Hamilton/Clark Equipment. He was a member of
American Legion Post 715 in Fort Jennings and a former member of the Delphos Eagles Lodge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in
St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, where an American
Legion service will be at 7:30 p.m. and a parish wake will be at 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to St. John Parish Foundation or donor’s choice.
