Joseph E. Brickner
    
 Joseph E. Brickner, 70, route 3, Delphos, died ay 5:55 Friday evening, following a lengthy illness.
     He was born in Ottoville on April 7, 1897, a son of Joseph and Josephine Brickner. He was married to
Elizabeth Pohlman on November 24, 1920.
     He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Virgil Nartker, of Lima; Mrs. Arthur Rose, of Miami, Fla.;
and Mrs. Elmer Korte, Kalida; two sons, Richard, of Lima; and Harod of Delphos; 20 grandchildren; a sister,
Mrs. Albert Deitering, of Coldwater, Mich.; and two brothers, Leo and George Brickner of Ottoville.
     Services were held in St. John’s Church, Delphos, Monday morning. The Rev. Joseph I. Schill officiated.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Owen B. Grubenhoff
  
Owen B. Grubenhoff, 44, of 709 Harmon, Delphos, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after suffering a heart
attack at his home. He had been ill several months.
  He was born in Ottoville, Jan. 14, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruen, who survive. He was married
June 14, 1954, to Rita P. Druckmiller, who also survives.
  Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Cheryl Miller of Delphos, Judith Ann at home, and
Sandra K. Grubenhoff of Lima; two sons, Barry of Lima, and Garry with the U. S. Navy stationed at Great
Lakes, Ill., seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Grote of Kalida, and a brother, Robert Ruen of
Ottoville.
  He was a member of the Allen County Fair Board, and a chairman of a committee of the Citizens of Delphos.
He also was vice president of the Delphos Lions Club, and operated Grubenhoff Construction Co.
  Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, with burial in St., John’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.

William Pavel
  William Pavel, 60, of 637 N. Elm, Delphos, died 3:05 a.m. today in Lima St. Rita's Hospital.
  Born Jan. 6, 1908, in Ottoville, he was a son of Henry and Anna Schumacher Pavel He was married July 6,
1953, to Marcella M. Hoffman and she survives.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Debra, and a son, Albert, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Burnett
of Delphos, and three brothers, Andrew and Steve, both of Delphos, and Matt of Van Wert.
  He was an employee of Delphos Manufacturing Co., and a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
  Requiem High Mass will be 9 a.m. Monday in the church, with Rev. Joseph L Schill celebrant. Burial will be in
the church cemetery. Friends may call at Kolkmeyer Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Saturday.

Paul Thomas Odenweller
Elevator Mishap Kills Putnam Man
  A 23-yearold Cloverdale man was killed about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday while at work at the Odenweller Milling Co.
elevator here.
  The elevator manager, Paul T. Odenweller, was found hanging in a grain bin by an employee, and was taken
to Lima St. Rita's hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
  Putnam County sheriff James Ruhe said Odenweller was found by John Eickholt, who went looking for the
victim when he failed to return to the office. Eickholt said Odenweller had climbed to the top of the elevator to
change a bin spout.
  Sheriff Ruhe said when Odenweller reached across a conveyor belt driveshaft, the hood of his sweatshirt
apparently became entangled in the mechanism, hanging the victim about 10 feet from the ground.
  The Ottoville Fire Department was called, administered resuscitation and took the victim to the hospital.
Odenweller was pronounced dead by Allen County Coroner Dr. William Noble, who ruled death was due to a
broken neck.
  He was born April 22, 1944, in Lima, a son of Eugene and Anna Otte Odenweller, who survive.
  He was married May 8, 1965, to Karen L. Miller, who also survives with twin sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lenore)
Knepper of Leipsic and Jennifer, at the family home, and brothers, Howard and Mark, also at the family home.
  Mr. Odenweller was a member of U.S. Marine Reserve at Lima. He also was a member of Immaculate
Conception Ottoville.
  Requiem High Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m. Friday in the church by Msgr. J. F. Frommherz. Burial will be m
St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.

J. Leander Wannemacher
      J. Leander Wannemacher, 65, died unexpectedly in his office at Wannemacher Sales and Service,
Ottoville, at two o’clock Monday afternoon, as the result of a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the
past year.
      Mr. Wannemacher was born at Ottoville on July 17, 1902, the son of George and Elizabeth Wannemacher.
He was married to Catherine Heckman at Glandorf.
      Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Weber, of Ottawa, and Mrs. Clair (Jeanne)
Naveau, Of Russia, Ohio; a son James, of Ottoville; nine grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. O. A. Friemoth, of
Toledo.
      Mr. Wannemacher, who had been affiliated with the Wannemacher Sales and Service all of his adult life,
was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Delphos
Council of the Knights of Columbus.
      Services were held in the church at 9:30 Thursday morning. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated. Burial was
made in the parish cemetery.

John Brokamp
  John Brokamp, 75, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday in the Delphos Memorial Home following an apparent heart
attack.
  Born in Glandorf, Oct. 13, 1892, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brokamp.
  He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
  He is survived by several cousins.
  Requiem High Mass win be offered 9 a.m. Monday in the church, Rev. J. F. Frommherz officiating, with burial
in the church cemetery.

Bernard F. Rayman
     Bernard Rayman, 84, died at 2:10 a.m. today in DelWard Nursing Center, Delphos, after an illness of three
months. He was an Ottoville restaurant owner.
     Born Oct. 30, 1883, in Ottoville, he was the son of Henry and Louise Rayman. He was married Jan. 19,
1908, to Bernadine Brinkman, who died April 1, 1949.
     Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Gust (LaDonna) Girlock of Toledo, Mrs. Marion (Margaret) Blymeyer of
Ottoville, Mrs. Wilfred (Elma) Berger of Fort Jennings, Mrs. Gilbert (Agnes) Liebrecht of Fort Jennings, Mrs.
John (Agatha) Metz of Lima, Mrs. Thomas (Regina) Byrne of Delphos, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Brinkman of
Delphos, and Mrs. Arthur (Doris Ann) Rellinger of Ottoville; two sons, Aloys of Lima and Edward of Ottoville 39
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Swartner of Canada, Mrs. Louis
(Catherine) Brady and Mrs. Bert (Theresa) Harden of California.
     He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where Requiem High Mass will be offered at
9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Msgr. J. F. Frommherz celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Albert H. Utrup
     Albert H. Utrup, 69, of Rt. 3, Ottawa, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the home of a daughter after suffering a
heart attack. He had been ill for two years.
     Born May 3, 1898, at Ottoville, he was the son of Gebhart and Anna Kehres Utrup. He married Veronica
Krietemeyer in 1925 and she died in 1945.
     Surviving are two sons, Brother Leo Utrup, of Rensselaer, Ind., and Harold J., of Ottawa; two daughters,
Sister Mary Albert, of Corbin, Ky., and Mrs. Wilfred (Dorothy) Kleman, of Ottawa; eight grandchildren; three
sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Lucy) Weichart, of Delphos, Miss Helen Utrup, of Ottoville, and Mrs. John (Hilda) Pohl, of
Ft. Jennings, and three brothers, August, of Delphos, Anthony, of Akron, and Louis of Leipsic.
     A retired farmer, he was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church where a Requiem High Mass will be
offered at 10 a.m. Saturday by Rev. Aloys Frederich. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Kalida.
     Friends may call at McCrate Funeral Home, Ottawa, after 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at 8
p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mary R. Martin
      Mrs. Mary R. Martin, 84, of Lima, died Wednesday night of last week as the result of a heart attack. She
had been in failing health for several years.
      Mrs. Martin was born at Ottoville on May 13, 1883, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Ernst. She was
married to Samuel Martin who preceded her in death.
      Mrs. Martin is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Byron Shields and Mrs. Albira Jones, of Lima, and Mrs.
William Merschman, of Delphos; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
      Services were held at one o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Harter and Son Memorial Chapel at Delphos.
The Rev. V. I. Sullivan officiated. Burial was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Delphos.

Gilbert F. Sanders
      Gilbert J. Sanders, 57, route 2, Ft. Jennings, died of a heart attack at 11:30 a.m. Monday while getting out
of his automobile in Ottoville.
      He was born April 7, 1911, in Ottoville, the son of John G. and Margaret Sanders. He married Harriet
Bonen on April 1, 1941, and she survives.
      Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Bernetta) Jacquay, Chicago, and Mrs. Jerome (Margaret)
Grothause, route 2, Ft. Jennings and two brothers, Edward, Ft. Jennings, and Anthony, Cloverdale.
      Mr. Sanders was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville.
      Funeral services were held in the church at 10 o’clock this morning with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F.
Frommherz officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

John Joseph Martz
Crash Victims Rites on Monday, Tuesday
     Two Lima men were killed Friday night in a single-car crash just 225 feet inside the Allen County line on Rt.
115, nine miles north of Lima.
     John J. Martz, 21, of 1034 N. Main, the driver, and Charles L. Terflinger, 23, of 1608 W. Robb, his
passenger, were dead 9:50 p.m. on arrival a t Memorial Hospital.
     Death was attributed to multiple chest and head injuries, according to Assistant County Coroner Dr. Gene
Wright.
     The car was traveling south Putnam-Allen County line, according to the state highway patrol.
     The vehicle crossed the center line, slid some 275 feet along the east side of the road burm, ripped down
a guard rail, and slammed into a concrete bridge abutment, the patrol said.
     The engine was ripped from the car by the impact, with the vehicle going on into a shallow drainage ditch
about five feet from the bridge.
     Both victims were found inside the car. Martz's body was pinned in the car's front seat while Terflinger's
body was thrown into the back seat.
     Wreckage was scattered over a wide area, with the car's right front fender found about 195 feet away from
the bridge, patrolmen noted.
     The car's steering wheel was crushed against the instrument panel on the passenger's side. The engine
was found on the bridge where a corner on the south end had been chipped away, the patrol said.
     Requiem High Mass will be offered for Martz Tuesdav in the 10 a.m. Ottoville Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church, with Rev. J. F. Frommherz officiating. Burial will he in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
     Born in Ottoville, May 14, 1946, he was the son of Elmer W. and Armella Thines Martz.
     He was employed at Ex-Cell-0 Corp. and a member of the Ottoville Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, its parish band and the Lima YMCA.
     On May 23, 1964, he married Rosemary Hoffman, who survives.
     Also surviving are a daughter, Paula, at home; his parents: grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Thines of
Ottoville: a brother, Elmer Jr. of Delphos, and four sisters, Darlene of Dayton, Mrs. Eugene (Caroline) Xartker
of Kalida, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Hoffman of Bryan and Mrs. Dennis ( Janice) Neidert of Fort Jennings.
     Friends may call at the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home Delphos, until noon Monday, when the body will be taken

Oliver J. Honigfort
Oliver J. Honigfort, 74, route 1, Ft. Jennings, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in his home after an illness of two
and one half years.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. M. E.
Lochtefeld officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the McCrate Funeral
Home Ottawa after 7:00 p.m. today.
Mr. Honigfort was born April 10, 1894, in Ottoville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Honigfort. He married
Clara Knueven in 1923 and she died in 1948.
Surviving are two daughters, Harold (Leona) Fee, Lima, and Mrs. Thomas (Alma) Schimmoeller, route 2,
Ottawa; a son Ralph, Ft. Jennings, and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Edward, Cloverdale,
William, Ottawa; and a sister Mrs. Bernadine Schimmoeller, Spencerville. Four brothers and two sisters are
deceased.
Mr. Honigfort was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic
Church and its Holy Name Society.

Mary R. Meyer
      Funeral services fir Mrs. Mary R. Meyer, 87, of Kalida, who died Sunday of last week, were held last
Wednesday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
      Mrs. Meyer died in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, after an illness of two weeks.
      Born March 14, 1881, at Ottoville, she was the daughter of Wenzel and Teckla Klima. Her first husband,
Adam Plescher died in 1922, and she later married Andrew Meyer. He died in 1951.
      Surviving area daughter, Mrs. Elma Roy, of Kalida, a son, Carl Plescher, also of Kalida, four grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
      She was a member of St. Michael’s parish and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Carl A. Weber
      Carl A. Weber, 71, route 1, Cloverdale, farmer of the Ottoville community, was found dead in his car off of
route 115 south of Vaughnsville, at 11:25 Monday forenoon. His death was due to asphyxiation.
      Mr. Weber was pronounced dead at the scene. Dr. A. P. Daniel, county coroner, ruled his death was
caused when chewing tobacco became lodged in his windpipe. A post mortem revealed that he had died
before the car has left the highway.
      The car left the highway, crossed a small ditch and came to a stop in a field. No damage was caused to
the vehicle.
      Mr. Weber had been in Lima where he had undergone a cardiograph examination for a heart condition
from which he had been ailing for several months.
      He was born near Ottoville on March 8, 1897, the son of Clarence and Magdelena Weber.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William (Lorena) Cappel, of Ft. Wayne, and Mrs. Aldoa (Leona) Reikart, of
South Gate, Mich.; and four brothers, William, of Taylor, Mich., Frank, of Ecorse, Mich., and John and Ralph
Weber, of Ottoville.
      Mr. Weber, who was a farmer, was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church.
      Services were held in the church at 10 o’clock Thursday morning. Monsignor J. F. Frommherz officiated.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Frank Pohl
     Frank Pohl, 71, of Rt. 3, died at 4 a.m. Saturday in St. Rita's Hospital following an extended illness.
     Born July 31, 1896, in Ottoville, he was the son of John A. and Philomena Meyer Pohl. He was married to
Elizabeth Calvelage Pohl, who died in 1936, and he later married Anna Kleman Pohl, who died in April.
     A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, Mr. Pohl was a retired
farmer.
     Surviving are six daughters. Mrs. Ruth Wegesin of Delphos, Mrs. Alice Brinkman of Kalida, Mrs. Mary
Catherine Hermiller of Kalida, Mrs. Rita Jane Stanford of Findlay, Mrs. Ada Bucher of Leipsic and Miss Carolyn
Pohl, at home; six sons, Gilbert of Coldwater, Mich., Norbert of Delphos, Bernard of Quincy, Mich., David and
Thomas, both of Ottawa and Robert, address unknown; two step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann VanSickle of
Milford, Mich., and Mrs. Irene Okuley of Rt. 1, Continental; two step-sons, Harold Kleman of Lima and Richard
Kleman of Columbus Grove; three brothers, Henry of Delphos, John and Bernard, both of Fort Jennings; three
sisters, Mrs. August Utrup of Delphos, Mrs. Edwin Hilvers and Mrs. Ed Hoersten, both of Fort Jennings, and 65
grandchildren.
     Requiem High Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the church, Rev. Florian Hartke celebrant. Burial

Andrew H. Brickner
      Andrew H. Brickner, 75, a retired farmer of near Kalida, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday in St. Rita’s Hospital
where he had been a patient for three weeks. He had been in failing health for nine years.
      Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Kalida with the
Rev. M. E. Lochtefeld officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
      Mr. Brickner was born in Ottoville on September 25, 1892, the son of Joseph and Josephine Brickner. He
married Veronica Liebercht in 1927 and she survives.
      Also surviving are sons, Andrew A. and Frank, both of Ottawa, Arthur of Elida, and Marion, at home; a
daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Partin, of Kalida; and eight grandchildren.
      There a two brothers, Leo and George, both of Ottoville; and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Amelia) Deitering,
Coldwater, Mich. A son, a daughter, three brothers and a sister are deceased,
      Mr. Brickner served in France with the Army during World War I. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church.

Regina Rekart
      Mrs. Regina Rekart, 87, a resident of Maria0Joseph Home in Dayton, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday in Good
Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an illness of 10 days. She was a former resident of Ottoville.
      She was born in Glandorf on February 25, 1881, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth Verhoff. She
married William Rekart on November 21, 1923, and he died April 10, 1951.
      Surviving are a step-son, Arthur F. Rekart, Ferguson, Mo.; three ste-daughters, Mrs. Otmer (Mildred)
Wanemaker, Delphos, Mrs. Paul (Armella) Bullard, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. A. J. (Celesta) Brandehoff, Lima;
15 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren.
      Mrs. Rekart was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where funeral services were held at
10 a.m. today. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated and burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery

David E. Hohlbein
      David Hohlbein, 17, of near Ottoville, drowned at 11:10 a.m. Sunday in Coldwater Lake, near Mt. Pleasant,
Mich. The youth had been vacationing there with his family.
      Michigan State Police reported that bystanders recovered the body of David Hohlbein from Coldwater
Lake and applied artificial respiration, but were unable to revive him. No other details of the drowning were
reported.
      David Hohlbein was born in Lima on September 23, 1951, to Oscar and Mary Ann Hohlbein, route 2,
Cloverdale. He would have been a senior in Ottoville High School next fall. He was a member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville.
      Surviving are his parents; brothers, James, with the U. S. Air Force at Canon Air Force Base, Clovis, N. M.,
Gregory, Joseph, and Roger, and sisters, Diane and Jean all at home; and his grandfather, Andrew Hohlbein,
route 2, Cloverdale.
      Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz
officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Alex Wiechart
      Alex J. Wiechart, 68, Ottoville resident, died at 7:40 Wednesday morning in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima,
following an illness of six weeks.
      He was born at Ft. Jennings on May 4, 1900, a son of Clarence and Mary Wiechart. He was married to
Florence Horstman on October 19, 1927.
      Surviving with his widow are a son, Norman, of Ft. Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Kemper, of
Ottoville, and Mrs. Richard (Edna) Wurth, of Kalida; 19 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Schmersal,
and Mrs. Fred Markward, of Delphos, and Mrs. Regina Miller, of Ottoville, and two brothers, Anthony Wiechart,
of Delphos, and John Wiechart, of Spencerville.
      A retired employee of the Hoffman Manufacturing Company of Delphos, Mr. Wiechart was a member of the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
      Services will be held in the church at 9:30 Saturday morning. Monsignor F. J. Frommherz will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ft. Jennings.
      Friends may call at the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home in Ottoville after two o’clock Thursday afternoon. The
rosary will be recited at the funeral home at eight o’clock Friday evening.

Edward G. Sanders
      Edward G. Sanders, 55, route 2, Ft. Jennings, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday in Lima St. Rita’s Hospital
following an extended illness.
      Mr. Sanders was born in Ottoville on January 19, 1912, the son of John and Margaret Sanders. He was
married to Lucille Ellerbrock, and she survives.
      Mr. Sanders was a farmer and was an employed at General Motors Corp., Defiance. He was a member of
the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville.
      Surviving besides his wife are six daughters, Barbara, Mary and Karen, all at home, Mrs. Gerald (Carol
Jean) Meyers, Ft., Jennings, Mrs. Daniel (Marilyn) Yates, Ottoville, and Sister Anna Maria, C. PP. S., Dayton;
two sons, Thomas, Defiance, and Jerry, of Ottoville; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Bernetta) Jacquay, Chicago,
and Mrs. Jerome (Margaret) Gorthause, Ottoville; one brother, Anthony, Cloverdale; and 13 grandchildren.
      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rt.
Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery

Daniel M. Byrne
      Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday morning in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at
Ottoville for Daniel M. Byrne, 92, Ottoville. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated and burial was in St.
Mary’s Cemetery.
      Mr. Byrne was born in Ottoville on February 21, 1876, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Byrne. He married
Emma Brandehoff in 1900 and she died in 1963.
      Surviving are sons, Joseph, Delphos, Orion, route 1, Cloverdale, and Hugo and John both of route 2, Ft.
Jennings; daughters, Mrs. Saloma Leatherman, Oakwood, and Mrs. Josephine Herman, Adrian, Mich. There
are 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. A son is deceased.
      Mr. Byrne was a retired farmer. He belonged to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Bertha Perrin
      Bertha Perrin, 83, of Ottoville, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday in St. Rita’s Hospital, following a three month
illness.
      She was born September 5, 1884, at Ottoville, a daughter of George and Margaret Kieffer Miehls. In 1907
she married Henry J. Perrin, and he died in 1956.
      Those surviving are a son, Melvin, Ottoville; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Mrs. Gertrude Eickholt, of Delphos, Mrs. Adeline Looser, of Ottoville, and Sister Mary Bonifas of the Sisters of
Mercy, Fremont; and two brothers, Edward, Lima, and George, Detroit.
      Mrs. Perrin was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Alter Rosary Society.
She was also a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
      Monsignor F. J. Frommherz offered Requiem High Mass for Mrs. Perrin at 9:30 a.m. today. She was buried
in the church cemetery.

Eliabeth Rekart
     Elizabeth Rekart, 95, of Rt. 2, Fort Jennings, died at her home 7 p.m. Saturday after a serious illness of
one week.
     Born at Ottoville, Feb. 15, 1873, she was the daughter of Gerhard and Anna Wurst Otte. Her husband,
Charles, died Sept. 15, 1916.
     Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Lawrence (Marcella) Blankemeyer of Cloverdale Mrs. Walter (Gertrude)
Waxier of Dayton and Mrs. Leo (Margaret) Heck of here; two sons, Elvin of Southgate, Mich. and Harold of
Chicago; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
     She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society of the church.
     Requiem High Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Tuesday by Msgr. J. F. Frommherz, pastor. Burial will in St

Oliver Gasser
Oliver (Ben) Gasser, 72, Delphos, died Monday at 4:07 p.m. in Lima St. Rita's Hospital. A son of Gebhard and
Anna Honigford Gasser, he was born July 18, 1896, in Ottoville. His wife of 49 years, Zita Van Oss, survives.
Other survivors are daughters, Mrs. Howard (Harriet) Metzger, and Mrs. Aloysius (Catherine) Metzger, both of
Delphos; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Beining, and brothers, Frank, Gebhard and William, all
of Delphos.
Mr. Gasser, a World War I veteran, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Lodge, and
Sacred Heart League of St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos.
The Rev. Albert Ottenweller will offer the Requiem High Mass at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church, followed by
burial in the church cemetery.

Helen A. Hiett
      Mrs. Helen A. Hiett, 59, route 1, Delphos, died in Lima St. Rita’s Hospital at 7:20 p.m. Sunday. She had
been ill for an extended period.
      Mrs. Hiett was born at Ottoville on May 9, 1909, a daughter of Frank and Mary Ruen. She married Ray C.
Hiett on March 4, 1935, and he survives.
      Also surviving are a daughter, Rose, at home; a son, Thomas, Spencerville; two sisters, Miss Martha
Ruen, Ottoville, and Mrs. L. A. Wannemacher, Delphos; and two brothers, Alex, of Ottoville, and John Ruen, of
Ottawa.
      Mrs. Hiett was a member of the Ottoville Catholic Ladies of Columbia, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,
Landeck and the Alter Rosary Society of the parish.
      Requiem High Mass was offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church. The Rev. Robert Knoepkle
officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

George J. Klima
      George J. Klima, 63, route 2, Ft. Jennings, died ay 10:55 a.m. Wednesday in Veterans Hospital Ft.
Wayne, Ind. He had been ill for some time and critically ill for one month.
      Mr. Klima was born March 4, 1905, in Ottoville, the son of John and Mary Klima. He was never married.
      He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II. He belonged to the Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church at Ottoville.
      Surviving are five sisters, Miss Martha Klima, Delphos, Mrs. Oscar (Gertrude) Hempfling, Delphos, Mrs.
Walter (Edna) Gray, Cleveland, Mrs. Margaret Kill, Wapakoneta, and Mrs. Cletus (Armella) Brinkman, Ft.
Jennings; and three brothers, Sylvester, Delphos, Alphonse, Jackson, Mich., and Edward, Brighton, Mich. A
brother and a sister are deceased.
      Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John’s Catholic Church in Delphos with the Rev. Albert
Ottenweller officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home in
Delphos after 7:00 p.m. today.

George P. Hilvers
     George P. Hilvers, 61, of Rt. 1, Cloverdale, died at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, after an
extended illness.
     Born April 25, 1907, in Ottoville, he was the son of Anthony and Veronica Metzger Hilvers. He was married
Nov. 30, 1933, to Lucinda Miller and she survives.
     Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard J. (Jane) Boniface of Landeck; four sons, Paul of Pennsboro,
W. Va., Philip and Gerald of Ottoville, and Mark at home; 18 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Allemeier
of Delphos, and Mrs. Bernard (Martha) Pohl and Mrs. August (Amelia) Krienbrink, both of Ottoville; and a
brother, Leo Hilvers of Ottoville.
     She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where Requiem High Mass will be offered at
10 a.m. Thursday by Msgr. J. F. Frommherz. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at
Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Ottoville.

Anne Hoersten
     Mrs. Anne Hoersten, 62, of here, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, following an
extended illness.
     She was born Nov. 3, 1905, near here, the daughter of Benjamin and Genevieve Hunt Hughes. She was
married Sept. 28, 1925, to Joseph Hoersten, who survives.
     Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William (Alice) Pavel of Elida, and Mrs. Eugene (Carol) Niese of
Ottawa; two sons, Kenneth of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Arthur of Bellevue; 15 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs.
Walter Bercaw, and Mrs. John Reynolds, both of Lima, Mrs. F. E. Carson of Zanesville, and Mrs. Joseph
Jankiewicz, of Portland, Ore.; and three brothers, Harold of Lima, and Oral and Arthur, both of Fort Jennings.
     She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Rosary Society and the Veteran of
Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
     Requiem High Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Friday in the church by Rev. Louis Huffman, burial in St. Mary's
Cemetery. Friends may call at Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Ottoville, after tonight, where the Rosary will be

     Otto F. Greulich, 62, of 915 Leson Ave., Van Wert, died at 9:40 a.m Saturday while at work at Wells Truck
Sales.
     He was born March 5, 1906, in Ottoville.
     He was married to Juanita Bowersock on April 30, 1936.
     Surviving besides his wife, are a foster daughter, Patty, at home; two brothers, Carl, of Ottoville and
Roman of Delphos.
     Requiem High Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Rev. Frederick Hug.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Norman J. Stokes
Chief Stokes Dies After 3 Years In Ottoville Post
     Police Chief Norman J. Stokes, W, died 6:15 a.m. Friday in Lima St Rita's Hospital, following a week's
illness.
     He served as police chief here for the past three years and was formerly employed by the Norfolk and
Western Railroad. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and
the VFW.
     Born in Toledo, Sept. 21 1908, he was the son of David and Nellie Smith Stokes.
     Survivors include his wife Anna; four sons, James and David, at home, Barry Troy and Richard of here; a
daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Mary Ann) Schnipke of Kalida and 10 grandchildren
     Requiem High Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Monday in the church, by Rev. Louis Huffman. Burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery, here.

Lena Ann Ernst
      Mrs. Lena Ernst, 80, former resident of Ottoville, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday in sunset Manor Nursing Home in
Kansas City, Kan. She had been ill for some time.
      Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ottoville with
the Rev. Louis Huffman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
      Mrs. Ernst was born in Ople, Kan., on November 13, 1888. Her husband George Ernst is deceased.
      Surviving are three sons, Edward, Lacona, Iowa, and Leo and Lawrence, both of Lacygne, Kan.; 12
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and three brothers.

Susanna Emma Schille
      Sussanna Emma Schille, 83, Ottoville, died at 7 p.m. Friday at Hillsdale Nursing Home at Bryan.
      Miss Schille, the daughter of John and Phillipine Etgen Schille, was born September 7, 1885. She was a
member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville. The only survivors are cousins.
      Services were at 9 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Louis Huffman officiating. Burial was in St.
Mary’s Cemetery.

Julian H. Schweller
      Julian H. Schweller, 78, route 2, Ft. Jennings, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday at Lima St. Rita’s Hospital.
      The son of Jacob and Frances Walck Schweller, he was born September 7, 1890, in Maria Stein. He was
married August 13, 1918, to Regina Hilvers and she survives.
      Mr. Schweller was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a retired employee of
Ohio Steel Foundry, Lima. He served four terms in the Ohio Legislature as State Representative from Putnam
County. He taught school in Putnam County for 13 years.
      Survivors include his widow; five sons, Walter, Ottawa, Charles, John and Henry, all of Ottoville, and
Donald, of Paulding; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Ernst, Inyokern, Calif., Mrs. Anna Allersmeyer, Majove, Calif.,
and Mrs. Don (Frances) Grothouse, Delphos; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers,
Edmund and Martin, both of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Lidwina) Wells and Mrs. William (Otilla) Woeste of
Dayton.
      Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Louis Huffman officiating. Burial was made
in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Stephen J. Miller
     Requiem High Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Stephen
J. Miller, 72, by Rev. Louis Huffman. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Miller died 2:15 a.m. Wednesday
in St. Rita's Hospital following a two-day
Illness.
     He was born here Aug. 22, 1896, the son of Martin and Veronica Eickholt Miller. He was married Jan. 23,
1923, to Mary Weber, who survives.
     Also surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Leon (Rita) Turnwald of Ottoville, Mrs. Orville (Ethel) Burgei, Mrs.
Norman (Julia) Kaskel, Mrs. Robert (Delores) Mesker and Mrs. William (La Donna) Schlagbaum, all of Delphos,
Mrs. John (Luella) Madigan of Wapakoneta and Mrs. Donald (Irene) Horner of Payne; five sons, Norbert and
Virgil, both of Ottoville, Ralph of Kalida, Donald of Delphos and Arthur of Columbus; 53 grandchildren; a great-
grandchild; four brothers, Hugo of Duluth, Minn., and Marcus, Wilbur and Bruno, all of Ottoville; and two
sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Hilvers of Ottoville and Mrs. George (Bertha) Grothouse of Delphos.
     Mr. Miller was a World War I veteran and a member of Ottoville Veterans of Foreign Wars and Immaculate

      Louis A. Boerger, 50, Ottoville, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at his home following an apparent heart attack.
      The son of George and Bertha Boerger, he was born July 21, 1918, in Michigan.
      He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the VFW. He was employed at
Westinghouse Corp., Lima.
      Survivors include his widow, Elenetta, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Yvonne) Heitmeyer, Ft.
Jennings; three sons, Ronald, Robert and Ricky, all at home; a grandchild; six sisters and four brothers.
      Requiem High Mass was offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev.
Louis Huffman officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

William J. Ricker
      William J. Ricker, 75, resident of route 2, Ft. Jennings, died in Toledo Hospital ay 10:30 Monday morning
following an illness of three days. Pneumonia was the cause of his demise.
      He was born at Ft. Jennings on January 2, 1893, a son of John and Susan (Miller) Ricker. He was married
to Rose Miller on November 22, 1921.
      Surviving with his widow are four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Alice) Ellerbrock and Mrs. Cletus (Bertha) Hoffman,
of Kalida, Mrs. Bernard (Mercella) Niemeyer, Delphos, and Mrs. Paul (Marie) Maag, of Belmore; 12
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lause, Mrs. John (Irene) Wellman, and Miss
Isabella Ricker, all of Delphos.
      Services were held in St. John’s Catholic Church at 10 o’clock Friday morning. The rev. Herman Fortman
officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
