Ottoville Youth Died Monday
Seriously Ill Only Two Days
Orville D. Turnwald, 16-year old son of Mrs. Ralph G. Turnwald, Ottoville, died at nine o’clock Monday
evening in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima. The young man underwent surgery four weeks ago, but his death followed
a serious illness of only two days.
He was born at Ottoville on February 29, 1944, the son of Ralph G. Turnwald. his father passed away on
January 14, 1960.
Surviving with his mother are two brothers and a sister, Jerome Turnwald and Mrs. John Nussbaum, of
Ottoville; and Gary at home, and his maternal grandfather, Ben Rayman, of Ottoville.
Orville was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ottoville, and of the Junior class at
Ottoville High School.
Funeral services will be held in the Ottoville church Friday morning at 9:30. Msgr. F. J. Frommherz, the
pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the parish cemetery.

Joseph George Henry Vincke
Joseph George Henry Vincke, salesman at Stippich Hardware in Lima until he retired in 1953, died at his
home Friday night at 10:30 following an extended illness. He was 81.
Mr. Vincke, who lived at 951 N. Elizabeth, resided in Lima the past 40 years. He was born Aug. 9, 1879 in
Ottoville.
He married the late Catherine Zahm, June 17, 1908, and was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church
and the Holy Name Society. Mrs. Vincke died March 18, 1950. One of their three sons, Alvin, died in 1960 on
this same date.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Marie Vincke, at the home, two sons, Lester, 694 N. West, and Cletus,
Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Gieskin, 328 W. McKibben, and Sister Mary Gertrude PHJ, Chicago; one
brother, Ferdinand, 234 N. Pierce and seven grandchildren.
Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard's Church Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Vincent Kelly will
officiate, and burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday. Friends may call at the Cantwell – Sweet Mortuary after noon
today.

Freda Utrup
Mrs. Freda Utrup, 75, 517 N. Jefferson, Delphos died Saturday, April 1, at 2 a. m. at her home after an
illness of seven weeks.
Born Dec. 2, 1885, in Ottoville to John and Mary Fuerst, the Delphos woman married Henry Utrup Aug. 15,
1902 in Ottoville. He preceded her in death April 4, 1955.
Mrs. Utrup is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Martha Recker, W. 2nd Street, Delphos and Mrs. Kenneth
(Edna) Kortokrax, Rt. 3, Delphos; one son Phil Utrup, Lima; one daughter. Coletta died in infancy.
There are 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs.
Corneilus (Dorothy) Bussind, Blissfield, Mich.; Mrs. Andrew (Mayme) Ellerbrock, Columbus Grove; Mrs. Frank
(Louise) Gibon, Delphos and one brother, John P. Fuerst, S. Washington St., Delphos.
Mrs. Uirup was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and the Altar Rosary Society, C. L. of C. and C. K. of A.
of St. Johns Catholic Church.
A Requiem Mass will be sung Tuesday, April 4 at 9 a.m. at St. Johns with the Msgr. Carl F. Reineck
officiating. Burial will be n St. Johns Cemetery, Delphos.
The remains are at the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Ottoville Man Died Friday A. M.
Lifelong Resident Of That Community
Sylvester J. Wannemacher, 74, died at his home near Ottoville at seven o’clock Friday morning, following
an illness of several years.
Mr. Wannemacher was born at Ottoville on December 17, 1886. Engaged in farming, he had resided in the
community all his life. He was married to Regina Wurst on September 21, 1909.
Surviving are his wife; eight children, Earl and Prissila, at home; Norval, of route 3 Elida; Richard of
Defiance; Robert, Mrs. Robert Eickholt and Mrs. Leonard Leonard, of Columbus Grove; 23 grandchildren, two
sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Matt Schumaker, Lawrence Wannemacher and Mrs. Flo Castle, all of Ottawa
and Leo J. Wannemacher, of Ottoville.
Funeral services were held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Monday morning at 9:
30. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Rites Saturday For John Rode
Death Caused By Heart Attack
John H. rode, 77, well known Ottoville farmer, died at St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, at 5:10 Wednesday
afternoon. His death due to a heart attack, followed an illness of two days.
Mr. rode was born in this county, north of Delphos, on February 27, 1884, the son of Henry and Elizabeth
rode. He was married at Ottoville in 1904 to Mary Utrup. She passed away July 4, 1947.
Surviving are two children; Mrs. Jerome Nartker, of Kalida; and Albert Rode, of Dayton; two grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Joseph and Frank, of Delphos and Arthur Rode of Landeck, and four
sisters, Mrs. Clara Utrup, Mrs. Emma Calvelage, Miss Henrietta Rode and Mrs. John Fuerst, all of Delphos.
Mr. Rode was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and the Ottawa Council
of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held in the Ottoville parish church at 9:30 Saturday morning. Interment will be made
in the parish cemetery.
The body will be at the Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral Home in Ottoville until time for services.

Aloysius Henry Ruen
Aloysius Henry Ruen, 57, Rt. 3 Ft. Jennings, a farmer, died Monday at 4 a.m. at his residence. He had been
seriously ill six weeks.
He was born August 1, 1903, at Ft. Jennings, a son of Fred and Martina (Gasser) Ruen. He was a lifetime
resident of the Putnam County area.
He was married August 19, 1931, at Ottoville to Loretta Hilvers who survives.
Other survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Honigford, Rt. 3 Ft. Jennings; Mildred, Catherine, Irene
and Maryilyn, all at home; four sons, Fred, Paul, Joseph and Roger, all at home, two grandchildren, and one
sister, Mrs. Edwin Herman, Rt. 3 Ft. Jennings. A sister and brother are deceased.
He was vice-president and director of the Ottoville Telephone Co. and President of the Ottoville branch of
the C. K. of O.; a church councilman of the Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, for 24 years.
Requiem High Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the church, with Msgr. J. F. Frommherz as
celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call at Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral Home, Ottoville, after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday until time
for service.

Mathilda Schumaker
Mrs. Mathilda Schumaker, 76, of Ottawa, died yesterday at 5 p.m. in her home. She had been ill three
months.
She was born March 26, 1885, a daughter of John and Emma (Rekart) Wannemacher, Ottoville. On Nov.
25, 1911, she married Mathias Schumaker, who survives.
They had four children, and one daughter is deceased. Surviving children are daughters, Mrs. Robert
Wensink, Deshler; and Mrs. Don Wiley, Bexley; and son Don, Lima. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Lee, of Ottoville, and Lawrence, Ottawa; and a sister, Mrs. Florence
Cassel, Ottawa. Five brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Schumaker was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church
Ottawa, and the Ottawa C. L. of C.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a. m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in the Church
cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday in the church.

Frank Klima
Frank Klima, 55, of 1431 E. High died at 11 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He
had been a patient in the hospital three weeks.
Mr. Klima was born June 3, 1906, at Ottoville. His wife, Mildred, died in 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Clausing of San Diego Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose
Markward of Kent, and Mrs. Betty Wrasman of Delphos; and three grandchildren.
Rev. E. J. Penhorwood will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Siferd's Westwood Chapel. Burial
will be in Preston Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joe Aufrance, Don Sheeter, Dick Markward, Urban Markward, John Nalley and Kenneth
Nelson.

Sabina E. Schimmoeller
Mrs. Henry Schimmoeller. 803 W. 6th St., died at 8 p.m. Friday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima. She had been
ill two years.
She was born Dec. 10, 1898 at Ottoville To Frank Altenburger and Rosa Geier and was married Aug. 7,
1958 to Henry Schimmoeller, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas Schroeder, 1007 N. Metcalf,
Lima; her mother, Mrs. Rose Kramer, Delphos; a sister. Mrs. Helen Christman, Akron and a brother, Herbert
Altenburger, Baltimore.
Mrs. Schimmoeller was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos, where Requiem High Mass will
be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday with Msgr. Carl Reineck, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in St John's Cemetery by Kolkmeyer, Clark and Helmkamp Funeral Home Friends may call
there after 2 p.m. today.

Mrs. Adelaide (Addie) Schmersal
Mrs. Adelaide (Addie) Schmersal. 76, died at 8 30 p.m Tuesday at the residence
of a daughter. Mrs. Albert (Leona) Maag. Glandorf. She had been seriously ill for the past year
Born Oct. 20, 1885, in Ottoville she was the daughter of William and Syzilla Ruen. She was married to Joe
Schmersal May 24, 1905 and he survives.
Also surviving are another daughter, Mrs. Ben (Marcella) Stechschulte, Columbus Grove; four sons, Mark,
Columbus Grove. George, Ottoville, Othmar, Toledo and William, Rt. 4, Ottawa; 40 grandchildren and 29 great-
grandchildren.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Glandorf; the Glandorf CL of C and St. Isadore's Altar
and Rosary Society.
Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Isadore's Catholic Church, Cuba, with the Rev, Melchoir Lochtefeld in
charge. Burial will be in St John's Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m today at the McCrate Funeral Home, Ottawa.

John F. King, Ottoville, Dies
Services Were Held Wednesday Morning
Funeral services were held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, at 9:30 Wednesday
morning for john F. King, 50, councilman of that village.
Mr. King died at 1:10 Sunday afternoon in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, following an illness of seven months. He
had been seriously ill for two weeks.
Mr. King was born at Delphos on September 17, 1911, and had resided in Ottoville for the past 40 years,
he had been a member of the Ottoville village council for 10 years. He was owner and operator of King’s Meat
Market at Ft. Jennings.
On September 21, 1937, he was married to Mildred E. Otte. She passed away on July 6, 1960.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia; two sons, Michael and Jeffery, all at home; a brother, George, of
Ottoville, and a sister, Miss Margaret King, also of Ottoville.
Mr. King was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Holy name Society of that
parish.
The Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz officiated at the services. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Eickholt Rites At Ottoville
Will Be Held Friday Morning
Services will be held at 9:30 Friday morning in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, for
Mrs. Martha M. Eickholt, 71, who died at 1:45 Tuesday afternoon in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima. She had been in
failing health for several years.
Mrs. Eickholt was born on December 31, 1889, the daughter of John and Katherine Rekart. Her husband,
August Eickholt, died in February, 1953.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Martin Bendele, Ottoville, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Eickholt was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia at
Ottoville.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will officiate at the services. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
The body will be at the Kolkmeyer-Clark-Helmkamp Funeral home, Ottoville, until time for services.
Native Of Ottoville Interred At Delphos
Mrs. Lena O’Donnell Buried At Delphos
Mrs. Lena O’Donnel, 89, a native of Ottoville, and later a resident of Delphos and Toledo, died in Saint
Francis Home, Tiffin, Friday.
Mrs. O’Donnel was born at Ottoville on February 14, 1871, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fritche.
She is survived by two sons; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Schmersal, of Glandorf, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in St. John’s Church, Delphos, Monday morning. Burial was made in the parish
cemetery in that city.
