Kramer, 45, Ottoville, who died at 11:45 a. m. Sunday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital. The Rt. Rev Msgr. J. F.
Frommherz: will officiate and burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery.
Mrs. Kramer was born in Ottoville April 30, 1909 to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Niedecken . She was married to
Gilbert Kramer who died in 1941.
Surviving are a brother, Joseph Niedccken, and a sister, Mrs. Jane Maag, both of Ottoville.

Barbara Schneeg
Requiem High Mass for Miss Barbara Schneeg 84, Ottoville, will be at 10 a. m Thursday in the Immaculate
Conception Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will be celebrant and burial will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Ottoville.
Miss Schneeg died at 4:45 p. m Monday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital after a 10-day illness. A native of
Ottoville, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Born at Ottoville on September 23, 1870, a daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Schneeg.
Surviving are a brother, Anthony B. Schneeg and a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, both of Ottoville.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyor Funeral Home, Delphos, until services.

John P. Pittner
John P. Pittner, 79, retired Ottoville businessman and farmer, died t 9:50 p.m. sunday in St. Rita's Hospital
after a seven-week illness.
Born in Ottoville Aug. 21, 1875, to Joseph and Mary Pittner. Mr. Pittner was married Oct. 25, 1905 to Emma
Ott, who survives.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society and the Catholic
Knights of Ohio.
Surviving, in addition to the widow, are three sons, Joseph, Andrew and John G., all of Ottoville; two
daughters, Mrs. Richard Burger and Mrs. Clarence Wiechart, both of Delphos; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.
George Steffel, Defiance; and a brother, Martin Pittner, Newago, Mich.
Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Church,
Ottoville, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements are
in charge of the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos.

Rosa Giesken
Mrs. Rosa Giesken. 68, of Venedocia RFD 1, widow of John H. Giesken, died at 6:45 a. m. today at the
Van Wert County Hospital following a 10-day illness.
Mrs. Giesken was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schlagbaum and was born December 15,
1886, at Ottoville. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church at Landeck and the Rosary Fidelity.
Surviving are six sons, William of Ottoville, Alvey of Paulding and Ambrose. Clarence, Julius and John, all
of Venedocia RFD 1; three daughters, Rosemary Niemeyer of Ottoville and Emma Schwinnen and Rosemary
Klaus, both of Landeck: a sister, Miss Louise Schlagbaum of Cloverdale, and 27 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Saturday at the St. John Catholic Church at Landeck and burial
will be in Ottoville St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kolkmeyer funeral Home in Delphos.

Janice K. Honigford (Infant)
Janice Kay Honigford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Honigford, Columbus Grove, died at 9 p.m.
Wednesday, nine hours after her birth in St. Rita's Hospital.
Surviving besides the parents are a brother, Robert Joseph, at home; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Bohn and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Honingford, all of Ottoville.
Services were to be at the graveside in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, with
the Harris Funeral Home , Columbus Grove, in charge.

Bernadine Landwehr
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
at Ottoville for Mrs. Bernadine Landwehr, 50, who died at 6:30 Wednesday morning in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima,
after an illness of 10 days.
Mrs. Landwehr was born at Delphos on September 16, 1904, the daughter of John and Philomina Siefker.
She was married to Henry B. Landwehr on June 12, 1929.
Surviving with the husband are five sons, Louis, Ottmer, Arthur, Henry, Jr., and Jerome, and a daughter
Marcile all at home; two brothers, Isadore and Joseph Siefker, both of Delphos, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie
Seffernick, of Sheppherd, Mich., Mrs. Henry Hoffman and Mrs. Charles Schlattman, both of Delphos.
Msgr. J. F. Frommherz, pastor of the Ottoville church, will officiate at the services. Burial will be made in the
parish cemetery.
The body will be at the Kolkmeyer funeral home in Delphos until time of services.

Frank Kalt
Last rites for Frank Kalt, 81, of 234 E. Fourth St., Delphos, will be held at 9:30 a. m. Thursday in St. John's
Catholic Church. Delphos. Burial will be made in the church cemetery.
Mr. Kalt died at 5:30 p. m. Monday in a Toledo hospital from complications of a three-week illness.
Mr. Kalt was born July 23, 1874, in Ottoville, and had lived in Delphos since 1920. He was a member of the St.
John's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was married Oct. 12, 1897, to Ida Huysman, who died in 1950. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leone
Bocian, Toledo: a son, Irvin, Dayton, a sister, Mrs. Mayme Imber, Delphos, and three grandchildren.
The body will remain in the Barter & Son Funeral Home until time for services.

August Rellinger
Solemn Requiem High Mass will be sung in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here at 10 a. m.
Saturday for August Rellinger, 62, of near Ottoville, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. Frommherz officiating. Burial will
be made in St. Mary's Cemetery here. Mr. Rellinger, a farmer, died at 10:45 p. m. Tuesday in Lima St. Rita's
Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1892, near Ottoville and on Nov. 10, 1915, married Pauline C. Flatz, who survives.
Mr. Rellinger was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. Joseph's Society, the Holy Name Society
and the Catholic Knights of Ohio.
Surviving besides the widow are four sons, Oscar Rellinger of Fremont, John O. of Fort Jennings, Paul at
home and Arthur of Ottoville; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Metzger of Fort Jennings, Mrs. Imelda Stechschulte of
Kalida, Mrs. Lucinda Donaldson of Fort Jennings and Mrs. Isabelle Markward of Delphos; one brother, Alois
Rellinger of Toledo; one sister, Mrs. Joseph Brinkman of Delphos, and 16 grandchildren.
The body will remain at the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home until time for services.

Joseph A. Rekart
Requiem High Mass will be sung at 10:15 a. m. Thursday in St. John's Catholic Church for Joseph A
Rekart, 63, of 604 W. 5th St. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Carl F. Reineck will be celebrant. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Mr. Rekart died at 2:30 p. m. Monday in his home following a heart attack. He had been ill several
years.
He was born in Ottoville Aug. 29, 1891, and was an employee of the Fisher Implement Co. He previously
had been a salesman for the Wannemacher Implement Co. for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War I and
a member of St. John's Church.
On May 7, 1918, he married Ellen M. Wannemacher, who survives, along with three sons, Roger J., Elida;
William G., Delphos; Joseph M., at home: three daughters Mrs. Ruth Stienbuch, Indianapolis Ind.; Mrs.
Margaret Ann Mansfield, St. Marys; Sharon Lee, at home; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Sigmund,
Delphos; Ralph, Detroit, Mich.; two sisters Mrs. Urban Wannemacher, Ottoville, and Mrs. Donald DeNour Utica.

Rosa Bensman
Requiem High Mass for Mrs. Rosa Bensman, 86, Ottoville, will be at 9 a. m. Thursday in the Immaculate

Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Bensman died at 5 a. m. Monday in the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. H. I. Eversole, Delphos, after
a one-year illness. A native of Ottoville, she was married Nov. 4, 1886 to Anton J. Bensman, and he died
March 5, 1945. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. C. M. Ricker, Fort Jennings; Mrs. John Sholl, Mrs. Wayne Slater and Mrs.
Bernard Stoody, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Frank Hohlbein, Ottoville, and Mrs. Alfred Hurt, Botkins; four sons, Henry,
Continental; S. J., Lima; Edward, Fort Wayne; I. J. Kansas City, Kan.; 46 grandchildren and 46 great-
grandchildren; two brothers, Andy Bendele, Ottoville; Leo, Delphos; six sisters, Mrs. Frank Wieging and Mrs.
John Wieging, Fort Jennings; Mrs. Mike Kehres and Mrs. Barbara Mowery, Delphos; Mrs. Charles Giesken,
Chessaning, Mich., and Mrs. John Plescher, Ottoville.

George O. Schnipke
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ottoville
for George O. Schnipke, 57, a brother of Rev. Sylvester Schnipke, Holgate, will officiate and burial will be made
in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
An employee of Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., Ottawa, Mr. Schnipke died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday at his
home northeast of Ottoville. He had been ill two months. He suffered a heart attack.
He was born at Cloverdale on September 28, 1897. He was married to Emma Ricker on October 27, 1920,
and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Leonard, Ottoville; Kenneth, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Martin; Ft.
Jennings; seven grandchildren; six brothers, Ben Los Angeles; Joseph, Lima; John and Anthony, both of
Kalida; Henry of Cloverdale; and Rev.
Schnipke; and a sister Mrs. Anna Mittelkamp, Ottoville.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer funeral home in Delphos where friends may call.

Joseph J. Miller
Requiem High Mass for Joseph J. Miller, 57, of here, who died at 5:30 p.m.Tuesday in the Shelby Memorial
Hospital, Shelby, from a cerebral hemorrhage, will be sung at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church here. The Rev. J. F. Frommherz will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery.
For several years Mr. Miller had been associated with Miller Bros. Clay Works here. He was a member of
the Immaculate Conception Church, it's St. Joseph's Society, and the Catholic Knights of Ohio. He was born
here Aug. 6, 1897, and was married to Stella Gasser Miller, who died March 4, 1950.
Surviving are three sons, Orville A., Lima, Joseph G. Jr., and Roger A., both of Ottoville; two daughters,
Mrs. Dorothy Bergfeld, Lima, Mrs. Margie Brenner, Ottoville; eight grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
George Miller Sr., Ottoville; three brothers, Adolph and George Jr., both of Ottoville, Anthony, Piqua, and a
sister, Mrs. Arnold Liebrecht, Ottoville.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos.

Henry Utrup
Henry Utrup, 81, of 517 N. Jefferson St., died at 4:15 p. m. Thursday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital after a four-
day illness.
A native of Ottoville, he was married Sept. 15. 1903, to Freda Fuerst, who survives He was a member of St.
John's Catholic Church here, St. Joseph's Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha Recker and Mrs. Kenneth Kortokrax,
Delphos; a son, Sylvester, Lima; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother. Joseph, Delphos.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Saturday.

Henry A. Wannemacher
Henry A. Wannemacher, 72, retired farmer, died at his home here at 12:45 a. m. Sunday. He had been ill
several years.
Born in Ottoville Nov. 10, 1882, he married Elenore Grothaus in Delphos May 15, 1907. She survives.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here and of its Holy Name Society.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are three daughters, Mrs. Eilene Eilene
Kuaz, Detroit. Mrs. Marceil Fought, Delphos, and Mrs. Luella Cook, 624 W. Vine St., Lima; four sons, Lavern,
Ottoville, Harold, Detroit, Hubert and Orville, both of Delphos; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five
brothers, Sylvester, Leo and Vincent, all of Ottoville, Albert of Battle Creek, Mich., and Lawrence of Ottawa,
and two sisters, Mrs. Matt Shumaker, Ottawa, and Mrs. Florence Cassel, Toledo.
Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday, the Msgr. J. F. Frommherz, celebrant. Burial will be in St.
Marys Cemetery, Ottoville. The body was taken from the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home in Delphos to the family
residence in Ottoville this morning.

Arnold F. Martin
Arnold F. Martin, 57, resident of route 3, Ft. Jennings, died unexpectedly at his home at 11 o’clock
Saturday night. He had been in failing health for the past three years and his death was due to a heart attack.
Mr. Martin was born near Ft. Jennings in Jackson Township on April 30, 1898, the son of William and Mary
Martin. He had resided in the Ft. Jennings community all his life.
On April 12, 1921, he was married to Ida Wieging. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Velma
Altenburger and Mrs. Bernice Rieger, Ottoville; Joan at home; three sons Leroy and Robert at home, and
James of Ft. Jennings.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Veronica Schumacher, Columbus Grove; Mrs.
Mary Schumacher, Mrs. Lucy Schulte, Mrs. Christine Schneeg and Mrs. Flo Horstman, of Ottoville, and Mrs.
Clara Unverferth, of Kalida, and three brothers, Henry of Toledo, Lawrence of Ft. Jennings and Leo Martin of
Ottoville.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ottoville and the Delphos Fraternal
Order of Eagles.
Funeral services were held in the Ottoville church Wednesday morning at 9:30. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz, the
pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

James A. Martz (Infant)
A Mass of the Angels will be sung at 9 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,
Ottoville, for James Anthony Martz, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornell Martz, route 3. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.
F. Frommherz will be celebrant. Burial will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
The child died at 4 p.m. Thursday in Delphos. He was being taken to St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, when
his father stopped in route for an ambulance at the Kolkmeyer Funeral home. He suffered Hodgkins disease
the last four months, and had been seriously ill the last ten days.
He was born January 7, 1952, in Lima and was baptized in the Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Ann and Betty, and two brothers, Robert and
Richard, all at home, and the paternal grandfather, John Martz, route 3, Delphos.
The body will be removed from the funeral home to the family residence Friday afternoon where friends
may call until tie of services.

Edward J. Miller
Ottoville Bank Director Dies
Edward John Miller, 68, member of the Ottoville Bank Board of Directors and partner of the J. J. Miller Co.
in Ottoville, died at 6 p. m. Sunday in the home of his sister, Mrs. J. F. Ockuley, Delphos. Death followed a brief
illness and attributed to a coronary embolism.
A native of Ottoville, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, its council, the Knights of
Columbus, Ottawa, and had been manager of the Kalida branch of the J. J. Miller Co. several years.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ockuley; Mrs. Walter Mersman, Celina; Miss Margaret Miller, Ottoville; a
brother, R. J. Miller, Celina. The body will be removed from the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, to the
residence Tuesday morning where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 8:30 p. m. Wednesday.
Solemn Requiem High Mass will be at 9:30 a. m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Church. The Rt.
Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will be celebrant and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.

William J. Looser
Requiem High Mass will be sung at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for
William Joseph Looser Sr., blacksmith. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will be celebrant. Burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery here.
Mr. Looser died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday in the Mt. Carmel Hospital, Columbus, following surgery, had been
in the last six weeks. Yesterday was his 65th birthday.
He was born May 17, 1890, here, and on Jan. 15, 1913, married Dorothy E. Bedink, who survives along
with three sons, who survives along with three sons, Romus, route 3, Ottawa, Elmer C., Delphos, William S. Jr.,
Delphos; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Maria Buchanan, Lima; eight grandchildren; a brother, Joseph, Ft. Jennings, a
sister, Mrs. Catherine Leis, Route 2, Ft. Jennings, and a step-brother, Albert Sshmersal, Delphos.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, and a member of its Holy Name Society.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, where friends may call after 2:30 p.m.

Roger J. Dickman
Requiem High Mass for Roger Joseph Dickman, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony H. Dickman of this

The youth died at 7:06 p. m. Monday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital of a blood disease. He had been ill the last
1½ years and seriously ill two weeks.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a sixth grade student in Ottoville School.

John A. Miller
John A. Miller, 63, living near here died at 6 a.m. Wednesday in his farm home after a two-year illness.
Mr. Miller was born Sept. 25, 1892 in Ottawa, and had been a lifelong resident of this community.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. He never was married.
He was a World War I veteran.
Surviving are two brothers, Frank J., Ottoville; Peter D., Detroit, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Nolte, Mrs.
Ida Crowley and Miss Elizabeth, all of Toledo, and Miss Katherine, Ottoville.

Henry J. Beining
Requiem High Mass for Henry John Beining, 74, of Route 2, will be at 10 a. m.

and burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Ottoville.
Mr. Beining died at 7:45 p. m. Saturday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital after a one-year illness. He had been
seriously ill two weeks.
A lifelong resident of the Ottoville area, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in that
village and of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Beining was born at Ottoville on January 1, 1881, the son of Henry
and Mary Beining. He was married in 1908 to Mary E. Sanders who died in 1952.
Surviving are five sons, Oscar and Lawrence, at home; Adolph. Route 3, Fort Jennings; John and Melvin,
Route 2, Fort Jennings; four daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Kimmet, Delphos; Mrs. Veronica Hilvers, Ottoville; Mrs.
Martha Noonen and Mrs. Bertha Kimmet, Delphos: 24 grandchildren: three brothers, Joe, Oliver and Theodore.
Ottoville; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Koester, Ottoville; Mrs. Ann Hoersten. Delphos; Mrs. Katherine Dietering,
Delphos; Mrs. Mary Schulte, Kalida, and Mrs. Elizabeth Moeggenburg Shepherd, Mich.

Kathleen L. Schlagbaum (Infant)
Child Crushed Under Wheels Of Backing Truck
Kathleen Louise, 17-month-old daughter of Anthony and Gertrude Schlagbaum, of one mile east of
Ottoville, was killed instantly at 9:30 Wednesday morning when she was crushed beneath the rear wheels of a
milk truck, which was back out of the lane at the Schlagbaum farm.
Sheriff Potts ands Dr. J. R. Echelbarger, who investigated, were informed that Mr. Schlagbaum, who is the
regular on the truck, was suffering a back injury and that Orville Schneider, 17, was making the regular rounds
on the milk route for Mr. Schlagbaum.
Schneider drove into the Schlagbaum lane to make the milk collection there, and after visiting with Mr.
Schlagbaum briefly, started to back from the lane. He had backed but a few feet when he felt something under
the wheels and on stopping discovered the child. She had been playing in the yard, and without the knowledge
of her father or Mr. Schneider had run behind the vehicle.
The child was killed instantly, having suffered a crushed skull, broken neck and leg and other injuries. She
was the seventh accident fatality in the county in less than three days, and the ninth in the past two months.
The infant was born in the Van Wert hospital on January 27, 1954. In addition to the parents she is
survived by four brothers, Roger, Donald, Jerry and Russell; a sister, Arlene all at home; the maternal
grandfather, Joseph Bendele and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Theresia Schlagbaum, both of Ottoville.
Funeral services will be held in the Ottoville Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at nine o’clock Friday
morning. Msgr. F. J. Frommherz, pastor, will officiate at the Mass of the Angeles. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery. The body is at the Kolkmeyer funeral home in Delphos.

Florence T. Martz.
Mrs. Florence T. Martz, 40, a resident of three miles east of Ottoville, died in St. Rita’s hospital, Lima, at 9:
30 Saturday evening following an illness of four months.
She was born at Ottoville on June 30, 1915, the daughter of William H. and Theresa Rekart. She was
married to Irwin E. Martz at Ottoville on August 24, 1938. Her husband is co-owner of Martz and Wannemacher
auto sales at Ottoville.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Judith, Constance, and Thomas, at home; a brother,
Arthur F. Rekart, of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Armella Bullard, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Mildred

Frank C. Becker
Requiem High Mass will be at 9:30 a. m. Tuesday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville,
for Frank C. Becker, 68, Route 3, Fort Jennings, who died at 3:07 p. m. Friday in Lima St. Rita’s Hospital.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
Born March 12, 1887, at Ottoville, Mr. Becker, a farmer, was a member of the Ottoville church and a
member of the board of directors of the Paulding-Putnam Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Surviving are his widow, Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Marcela Schumaker, Delphos, and Mrs. Bernadine
Utrup, Columbus Grove; a son, Melvin, Ottoville; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Teresa Schlagbaum,
Mrs. Verona Fischbach and Mrs. Lucinda Hohlbein, all of Ottoville, and Mrs. Lena Hoffman, Columbus Grove,
and five brothers, Anthony, Dayton; William, Glandorf; Ed, Delphos; August, Fort Jennings, and Bernard,
Frankfort, Ind.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, until time of services. Friends may call
there after 2 p. m. Sunday.

Mary L. Sawmiller
Miss Mary E. Sawmiller, 39, resident of Ottoville, died in St. Rita’s hospital, Lima, at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
She had been ill for some time suffering from complications and a hospital patient for 10 days.
Miss Sawmiller was born at Delphos on February 16, 1916, a daughter of C. O. and Clara Sawmiller, but
had resided in Ottoville for sometime.
She is survived by her parents, who reside in Ottoville, and ten brothers and sisters, Cyril, of Lima’ Mrs.
Herman Beckman, of Miller City; Mrs. Elmer Seimet, of Bono; Charles, of Toledo; Harold, of Ottoville; Mrs.
Leonard Miehls and Mrs. Alfred Heiing, of Ottawa; Mrs. Ralph Menke, Ft. Jennings; Mrs. Albert Metcalfe, of
Spencerville; and Miss Clara Sawmiller at home.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at
Ottoville. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The body will be at the Kolkmeyer funeral home in
Delphos until time for services.

Caroline Knippen
Requiem High Mass for Mrs. Caroline Knippen, 71, wife of George F. Knippen, near Ottoville, will be sung
at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her son, the Rev. Charles Knippen, will
be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Knippen died at 4:35 a. m. Sunday in St. Rita's
Hospital, Lima. She was admitted to the hospital Friday after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
Born July 6. 1884, in Miller City, Mrs. Knippen was married in Cloverdale on March, 1904. She was a
member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
Surviving besides the husband and son are four other sons, Sylvester, Delphos; William, Ottoville; Joseph,
Delphos: and George Jr., at home; six daughters, Sister M. Berchmans, CPPS, Cleveland: Sister M. Leonarda,
CPPS, Maria Stein; Sister M. Vita, CPPS, Minster; Mrs. Ewald Kehres, Mrs. Elmer Pohlman and Mrs. Gilbert
Hesseling, Delphos; 26 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Turnwald, Ottoville; and Mrs. Anna Bendele.
Columbus Grove; and a brother, Joseph Miller, Cheshire, Ore.
Arrangements are in charge of the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos.

Louise Schlagbaum
Miss Louise Schlagbaum, 77, resident of Cloverdale, died in St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, at 8:40 Monday
morning following a serious illness of one year.
Miss Schlagbaum was born at Ottoville on August 8, 1878, the daughter of Bernard and Clara
Schlagbaum. She had served as housekeeper at St. Barbara’s Rectory at Cloverdale for a number of years.
Her only survivors are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Schlagbaum, and Mrs. Frank Helmkamp, Ft. Wayne,
and several nieces and nephews.
A Solemn Requiem High Mass was entoned at the funeral services in the St. Barbara’s church Thursday
morning at 10 o’clock. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery at Ottoville

Tresa Humbarger
Mrs. Tresa Humbarger, 76, wife of Noah Humbarger of Tully Township, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning in
her home three and one-half miles northwest of Convoy, following 14 years illness.
She was born in Putnam County September 17, 1879, a daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Hatfield) Eickholt.
Her marriage was an event of Paulding County on November 19, 1902.
Survivors are her husband; a twin brother John C. Eickholt, of Ottoville and two other brothers, Barney of
Delphos and Edward of Ottoville; two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Wurst of Lima and Mrs. Clara Bishop of Uniopolis.
Three brothers and a sister are deceased.
Mrs. Humbarger was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Van Wert.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Russell Gillig in charge. Burial
will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery near Convoy.
The body is at the H. D. Smith funeral home in Convoy where friends may call after 7 o’clock this evening.
The Alter Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Katrina M. Krietemeyer
Mrs. Kathrina M. Krietemeyer, 79, widow of John H. Krietemeyer, died at 6 a. m. Thursday in her home
near here after a three-month illness.
Born near Fort Jennings. May 21, 1879, Mrs. Krietemeyer was married in 1899. Her husband died in 1943.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and the Altar and Rosary Society
of the church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Benno Miller, Van Wert; Miss Loretta Krietemeyer, at home; Sister Mary
Petronia, CPPS, Carthagena; and Mrs. Alex Ruhe, Continental; two sons, Frank, Ottoville; and John at home;
two stepchildren ; David, at home; and Mrs. Andy Wurst, Ottoville; 13 grandchildren: three brothers, William
Wallen, Owosso, Mich.; Gust Wallen, Defiance: and Ben Wallen, Tipp City; and a sister, Mrs. Edward
Shoemaker, Yale, Mich.
Requiem High Mass will be sung in Immaculate Conception Church at 9:30 a. m. Monday, the Rt. Rev.
Msgr. J. F. Frommherz celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. The body will be removed from
the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, to the family residence Friday morning.

Joseph Sanders
Joseph H. Sanders, 71, Ottoville, retired blacksmith, died at 7:30 p. m. Sunday in his home following a
three-day illness. He had suffered a heart attack.
A native of Ottoville, he was married June 17, 1914 in this community to Anna Pohl, who survives.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, and the Holy Name Society.
Surviving besides his widow are four daughters, Sister Mary Silina, C. PP. S., Versailles; Mrs. Arthur
Ellerbrock, Fort Jennings; Mrs. Mary Ann Schimmoeller, Delphos, and Mrs. Harold Rampe, Kaida; four sons,
Sylvester, Joseph and Gilbert, Ottoville, and Gerald, Ottawa; two half sisters, Mrs. Henry Pohl and Mr. Clarence
Schimmoeller, both of Delphos; three half brothers, Albert, Frank and Andrew Hohlbein, Ottoville
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos until Requiem. High Mass at 10 a. m.
Wednesday in the Immaculate Conception Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will officiate and burial
will be in St. Marys Cemetery.

Sylvester Brinkman
Requiem High Mass for Sylvester J Brinkman, 54, will be sung at 9:30 a. m. Monday in Immaculate

Mr. Brinkman, a farmer and lifelong resident of this area, died at 11:30 a. m. Thursday in his home near
Ottoville of a heart attack
Born Dec. 25, 1900, he was married in Landeck June 19, 1929, to Philomena Mueller, who survives.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, its Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights of Ohio.
Surviving, besides the widow are two sons. John, in the Army at Ft. Polk, La.; and Ralph, at home; two
daughters, Mrs. Irene Schroeder and Mrs. Mary Ann Stechschulte, Columbus Grove three grandchildren; and
four sisters, Miss Mary Brinkman and Mrs. Louis Ricker, Ottoville; Mrs. Edward A. Schwertner, Cleveland and
Sister M. Irene, CPPS, Maria Stein.

Joseph P. Wurst
High Requiem Mass will be sung at 9 30 a. m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here
for Joseph R. Wurst, 79, retired dry goods merchant and village councilman, who died in Columbus Saturday.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Fromrnherz will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Wurst died at the home of his daughter. Mrs. A. J. Friemoth, where he had been for the last 10 weeks.
He had been ill for several months.
He was associated with the J. J. Miller Co. store here for 46 years before retiring seven years ago. He was
a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights of Ohio.
A native of this village, he married the former Mary Rekart here in 1903. She died in 1952.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Friemoth, are two sons, Wilbur, Dayton, and Joseph Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.; a
brother, Andy. Delphos; three sisters, Miss Anna Wurst, Delphos; Mrs. E. G. Kundert, Delphos, and Mrs. Syl
Wannemacher, Ottoville, and eight grandchildren.
The body will be taken from Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, to the family home here, where friends
may call after 6 p. m. Sunday.

William F. Brickner
Requiem High Mass for William F. Brickner, 39, of 228 E, 4th St., Delphos, will be at 9:30 a. m. Monday in
St. John's Catholic Church here. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. J. McKeown will be celebrant and burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Mr. Brickner died at 10:15 a. m. Thursday in his home of a heart attack after a three-week illness.
A native of Ottoville, he had been employed as a motor repairman at Westinghouse Electric Corp., Lima.
He was married to Maria Nartker in Fort Jennings Aug. 26, 1936. Besides his widow, he is survived by three
daughters, Ruth Ann, Diane Mae and Carol Sue, and a son, David William, all at home; five brothers, Andrew.
Continental; Joseph, Delphos, John, George and Leo, Ottoville; a sister, Mrs. Amelia Deitermg, Wapakoneta.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home until services.

Mrs. Theresia Turnwald, 75, of northwest of Ottoville, died at 6:20 a. m. Friday in her home after a year's
illness.
A native of Miller City, she was married May 1,1906, in Cloverdale, to Joseph J. Turnwald, who died July
20, 1946. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church here.
Surviving are two daughter Mrs. Edmund Schimmoeller, Ottoville; Mrs. Arnold Fisher, Fort Jennings; three
sons, Ralph, Lawrence and Leonard, near Ottoville; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.
Anna Bendele, Columbus Grove, and a brother, Joseph P. Miller, Cheshire, Ore.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home, Delphos, where friends may call after noon
Saturday. Solemn Requiem High Mass will be at 9:30 a. m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, the

Mrs. Ida P. Friemoth, 55, wife of Isadore A. Friemoth, Ottoville, died at 4:10 p. m. Friday in Lima at. Rita's
Hospital after a two month illness.
A native of Ottoville, she was married June 21, 1922, to Isadore Friemoth, who survives. She was a
member of the Ottoville Immaculate Conception Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Catholic Ladies
of Columbia.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Kaverman. Delphos; a son Jerome, Ottoville; seven grandchildren; six
sisters, Mrs. Joseph Krietemeyer, Columbus Grove Mrs. Albert Hempfling, Delphos Mrs. Edward Dugan,
Hornell N. Y.; Mrs. Frank Fenbert, For Jennings; Mrs. Cornell Martz, Ottoville; Sister Mary Mathew, Minster;
three brothers, Benno Brinkman, Kenton; Joseph, Delphos, and Alex, Youngstown.

Margaret Liebrecht
Requiem High Mass will be at 9 a. m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church here for Mrs. Margaret
Liebrecht, 92, of Route 3, Fort Jennings. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. F. Frommherz will be celebrant and burial will
be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
Mrs. Liebrecht died Friday in her home after a three-week illness. She was born in Germany and was
married in Ottoville in 1887 to Joseph Liebrecht. He died Oct. 14, 1930.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Verhoff, Continental; Mrs. Elizabeth Kastner, Dayton, and
Mrs. Voionica Brickner, Coverdale: three sons, Frank,
Dayton: Arnold, Ottoville, and Lawrence, Fort Jennings, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Matilda Krinebrink, Kendallville,
Ind , three stepsons, John Liebrecht, Fort Jennings; Bernard, Continental: William, Ottoville; 34 grandchildren
and 52 greatgrandchildren.
The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home until after services.

Alex Calvelage
Postmaster Dies Thursday At Ottoville
Alex M. Calvelage, 53, interim postmaster here and former marshall, was found dead in his bed here at 4
p. m. Thursday.
Mr. Calvelage had complained of being ill Wednesday, and when he failed to report to work Thursday, a
nephew, William Maag, investigated. Dr. J. R Echelbargcr. Putnam County coroner said death was due to a
heart attack, apparently suffered about 6 a . m . yesterday.
He has served on an interim appointment as postmaster for about a year. His permanent appointment was
due in January. Mr. Calvalege was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. His wife, the
former Melinda L. Otte, died Dec. 10, 1954.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Catherine Calvelage, Ottoville, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Ihm, Altoona.

Services tentatively are set for 9 a. m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, and burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville. The body will remain in the Kolkmeyer Funeral Home at Delphos.
