Death Near Ft. Jennings
Mrs. George Wallenhorst died at her home four miles northwest of Delphos, near the Auglaize River,
Wednesday morning, death due to a complication of diseases. Mrs Wallenhorst was 22 years old. She leaves
her husband and two children, one 16 months old and the other ten days old. The deceased was well known
and her death will be deeply mourned. The husband has the sympathy of all in this sad moment.
The funeral will be held from Ft. Jennings Monday morning and the remains will be buried on the Catholic
cemetery there.

APPENDICITIS WAS FATAL
Former Ottoville Young Man Died at the Lima Hospital, Wednesday Night,
Gebhard M. Eickholt, aged 21, of Norval avenue, Norval Heights, Lima, died at 10:30 Wednesday night at
the City Hospital from the effects of an operation for appendicitis performed Wednesday evening, after a
sudden and second attack had come upon the young man.
He remarked Wednesday morning that he was well enough to work to a number of friends that called to
see him and preparations were made for his removal from the hospital. A sudden attack came on him and the
operation was performed immediately. It was unavailing and he sank quickly to death. He was taken to the
hospital June 25th.
The young man was born in Ottoville, and was a carpenter by trade. The remains were taken to the
morgue of Undertaker Bennet and were shipped Thursday afternoon to Ottoville.
Undertaker A. A. Roth came to Delphos Thursday and conveyed the remains to Ottoville. The body was
brought to Delphos over the Penna.

Joseph Gruber
On the morning of the Fourth the sad news came to town of the death of Joseph Gruber who passed away
at his home at six o'clock a. m. The deceased was born in Germany in October 1837 and was past seventy
years old. He came to America twenty-three years ago and settled on a farm where he resided until his death.
He has been in poor health for the past few months but has been able to be about, death was caused by heart
failure. He leaves a wife and six children: Mrs. Theresa Gasser of Cincinnati, Anna, of Dayton John, of
Chicago, Joseph, Simon and Lizzie, who were at home. Funeral services were held from St. Mary church.
