Agnes Lang
Sudden Death Of a Kind Mother Casts a Deep Gloom O’er the Home
WAS ILL ONLY A FEW HOURS.
Mrs. Jos. Lang: Passed Away at Her Home—Congestion of the Brain Cause of Her Demise.
A deep shadow rests over the home of Jos. Lang, on South Clay street, the wife and mother having
passed to the other shore Sunday evening. Mrs. Lang was apparently in good health until Saturday, when she
complained of a severe headache. Sunday she appeared to be in good health and ate dinner with the family.
At 1:30 o'clock, she was suddenly taken ill, and her condition continued to grow worse until Death conquered
at 8:45 o'clock. Congestion of the brain and heart trouble was the cause of her demise.
Agnes Schmidt was born at Ottoville, December 8,1863, and at the time of her death was 39 years, 5
months and 17 days old. When but a child, she came to Delphos with her parents and was married to Jos.
Lang June 7, 1881, at Delphos. To them were born six children, all of whom, with the beloved husband,
survive. They are: Laura, Viola, Walter, Arthur, Raymond and Augusta. Several sisters and brothers, one a
sister in a convent in Carroll, Iowa, Joseph Schmidt, of Delphos, Mrs. Martin Noonan, of Lima, and Mrs. Jos.
Frederick, of Mishawaka, Ind., also survive. One half-brother, Ben Bruenning, of Batesville, Ind., and one half
sister, Mrs. Jos. Coffee, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., are also living. Her parents have both preceded her in death.
She was always a good, kind wife and mother, ever willing to sacrifice every thing for the happiness of her
family, and her sudden death was a great shock to the family. The sympathy of all goes out to the husband
and children in their sad affliction. She was a good Christian woman, a devout member of St. John's church,
and a member of the Sacred Heart League. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning from St. John's
church and the remains laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
